Powder Coating Class June 24, 25 & 26, 2005
Page 2 of 2

Once the vinyl is totally removed the piece is rolled back in to the over to finish baking out.

Here it the result!

You can see the iridescent effect of the stardust powder.

Not a bad project!

This soccer ball was actually finished before the eagle. The base coat is "Sparkle Granny Smith Apple Green" with a coat of "Stardust black" finished in a clear coat powder to bring out the Sparkle Granny Smith Apple Green. You can see how the base coat affects the other colors making the Sparkle black look dark green.

This piece has a base coat of three different colors, each applied and baked in alternating order: black, blue and green powders. Flames were hand-taped on the piece and a Raspberry Clear coat was applied.

Do you see the "ghost flame?" The panel has a base coat of "Wet Black" powder. Baked, allowed to cool. The flame was hand-taped on then "Sparkle Black" powder was applied and baked again. A clear coat finished off the piece and baked for a third time.

This took some time! First the flame was hand-taped and sprayed with red powder then baked. A hand-taped outline was place around the red flame and sprayed with green and baked again.

Here you see a student checking a chrome powder coated ammo box with a hand-taped flame panel. There were lots of other projects this past weekend; students are encouraged to bring an item to powder coat. Check back for up-dates on future classes!
